Moving House this Summer
As the days are warming up, summer is finally on it’s way in London and summer means moving season. We all know the London heat can get unbearable so we have put together some tips on how to stay cool on a hot summer’s moving day.
Keep Hydrated
Regardless of whether you are moving house or not, keeping hydrated is paramount in the heat. Dehydration causes headaches and tiredness, not something you need on an already stressful day. Regularly take in liquids and make sure you don’t pack up all your water bottles! Keep one topped up throughout the day.
Pack a Cool Box
We ask our customers to defrost their freezers prior to the move but in summer we suggest keeping aside a cool box for move day. Get it packed up with icepacks, fresh fruit, ice pops and energy drinks. These will help keep you cool when the temperature starts soaring.
Stay in the shade
Once you get your keys and have access to your new home, get the breeze blowing through by opening up all the windows and doors. Try and stay in the shade of the property as much as possible and if you are lucky enough to have air conditioning request the instructions prior to the move. During the day avoiding the sun will be impossible. Make sure you haven’t packed your sun cream and keep reapplying it throughout the move.
Make Plans for Children & Animals
Whatever the weather we always recommend you ask a friend or family member to look after your children and animals on move day. It is safer and easier for you and our Removal Operatives if they are having a fun day, away from the stresses of moving home. If they are at home then make sure sun hats, sun cream and your pet’s water bowls are all accessible on the day.
